(1882–1974) a US film ↑producer, born in Poland. In 1916 he established Goldwyn Pictures, which later became part of ↑Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He received an ↑Oscar for The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), and his other films included ↑Wuthering Heights (1939), ↑Guys and Dolls (1955) and Porgy and Bess (1959).
