trans·al·do·lase (trans-alґdo-lās) [EC 2.2.1.2] an enzyme of the transferase class that catalyzes the transfer of a dihydroxyacetone group from a ketose phosphate to an aldose phosphate in a reaction of the pentose phosphate pathway.
