Pancras m
English: Middle English form of Greek Pankratios (see PANCRAZIO (SEE Pancrazio)), popular in England during the early Middle Ages because in the 7th century the Pope had sent to an Anglo-Saxon king relics of a saint so called (an obscure 3rd-century martyr, not the more famous Sicilian saint mentioned at Pancrazio). It is now very rare, and modern instances are probably adaptations of the Italian name.
