Aniba
   Site in Lower Nubiain the Second Cataractregion. Egyptian Miam. A fortress was constructed here during Dynasty 12 and was reoccupied during the New Kingdom when it became a major administrative center for the area between the First Cataract and Second Cataract. Aniba was excavated by a German expedition in the 1930s and is now flooded by Lake Nasser, the lake of the Aswan High Dam. Some monuments from the site were salvaged before the flooding.
