Greater London [Greater London]
the area covered by the 32 ↑boroughs of London. It was established as a local government area in the 1960s when parts of the counties closest to London became parts of London. It is a very large area, covering 610 square miles/1 580 square kilometres, with a population of around 7.2 million.
