(1865–1936) king of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (1910–36). He was the son of ↑Edward VII. He became popular with the British people for supporting the British armed forces in ↑World War I. In 1917 he dropped all his German titles and changed the family name from ↑Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to ↑Windsor 1.
