Dorothy Hodgkin [Dorothy Hodgkin]
(1910–1994) an English scientist who did important work on the structure of crystals. She discovered the structure of ↑penicillin (= a drug used to treat infections), vitamin B12 and insulin (= the substance that controls the sugar in blood). In 1964 she received the ↑Nobel Prize for chemistry.
