Samuel Butler [Samuel Butler]
(1835–1902) an English writer who escaped from his extremely religious English family to become a farmer in New Zealand. He wrote about this experience in his novel The Way of All Flesh (1903). His other famous book, ↑Erewhon, makes fun of religion and other human ideas.
