Although these words give some trouble with spelling and pronunciation, their meanings are clearly distinguishable. A foreword is a preface, introduction, or introductory statement: "The foreword of this book runs for five pages." Forward means "in front," "located in advance," "ahead": "Troops will move forward on the count of four." "His cabin is located in the forward part of the ship." See also forward.
