These words refer to that which exists in great quantity. Lavish implies excessive openhandedness and generosity: "The food, decorations, and entertainment at the party were lavish." Profuse suggests exaggeration and overstatement: "Please accept my profuse thanks for your hospitality." Related words are excessive, unstinted, improvident, generous, and openhanded.
