Curia de Arcubus
The Court of the Arches was the court of the province of Canterbury. It acquired this name from the church where it sat, St Mary de Arcubus, i.e. St Mary-le-Bow (the church with the well-known *Bow bells). [Lat. arcubus = a bow, an arc; curia = court]
