glyceryl trinitrate
(nitroglycerin)
a drug that dilates blood vessels and is used to prevent and treat angina (see vasodilator). It is administered by mouth (tablets or sprays), skin patches or ointment, or injection; large doses may cause flushing, headache, and fainting. Trade names: Glytrin Spray, Nitrolingual Pumpspray, Sustac, Transiderm-Nitro.
