Sand·hoff's disease 'sand-.hȯfs- or Sand·hoff disease -.hȯf- n a hereditary disorder of lipid metabolism that is closely related to or a variant of Tay-Sachs disease, that typically affects individuals of non-Jewish ancestry, and that is characterized by great reduction in or absence of both hexosaminidase A and hexosaminidase B

Jatz·ke·witz 'yäts-kə-.vits H. German medical scientists. Sandhoff, Andreae, and Jatzkewitz jointly published a description of a variant form of Tay-Sachs disease in 1968. They based their report on three typical cases of Tay-Sachs, one exceptional case, and seven controls.
