rei·ki (raґke) [Japanese, from rei spirit-guided + ki vital energy] a healing tradition of Eastern origin whose purpose is to rebalance the complex energy systems that compose the body when they have become out of balance. This unbalancing may have physical manifestations, which can be relieved by the channeling of energy from an unlimited universal energy source through the hands of the practitioner.
