colic artery n any of three arteries that branch from the mesenteric arteries and supply the large intestine:
a) a branch of the superior mesenteric artery serving the ascending colon called also colica dextra, right colic artery
b) a branch of the superior mesenteric artery serving the transverse colon called also colica media, middle colic artery
c) a branch of the inferior mesenteric artery supplying the descending colon called also colica sinistra, left colic artery
