pho·to·ther·a·py (fo″to-therґə-pe) [photo- + therapy] 1. the treatment of disease, e.g., herpes simplex, psoriasis, neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, or seasonal affective disorder, by exposure to light, especially by variously concentrated light rays or specific wavelengths.
