Osteochondrosis
Any disease that affects the progress of bone growth by killing bone tissue. Osteochondrosis is seen only in children and teens whose bones are still growing.

os·teo·chon·dro·sis (os″te-o-kon-droґsis) a disease of the growth or ossification centers in children that begins as degeneration or necrosis and is followed by regeneration or recalcification. Called also epiphyseal ischemic necrosis. It can occur in any of numerous bones: in the calcaneus (os calcis) it is sometimes called apophysitis; in the capitular head of the femur it is called Legg-Calvй-Perthes, Perthes, or Waldenstrцm disease and coxa plana; in the lunate bone it is called Kienbцck disease; in the head of the second metatarsal it is called Freiberg infraction; in the tibial tuberosity it is called Osgood-Schlatter or Schlatter disease; in the vertebrae it is called Scheuermann or juvenile kyphosis; and in the capitellum of the humerus it is called Panner disease.
