[TA] one of the two divisions of the prosencephalon, composing the cerebrum (q.v.). 2. in the developing embryo, the anterior of the two brain vesicles formed by specialization of the prosencephalon, consisting of the anterolateral evaginations of the prosencephalon, together with the median, unpaired portion, the lamina terminalis; from it the cerebral hemispheres are derived.
