hy·po·phos·pha·te·mia (hi″po-fos″fə-teґme-ə) [hypo- + phosphate + -emia] an abnormally decreased amount of phosphates in the blood; manifestations include hemolysis, lassitude, weakness, and convulsions. It may be found in hyperparathyroidism, rickets, osteomalacia, and several renal tubular abnormalities, including the Fanconi syndrome. hypophosphatemic adj
