mi·croph·thal·mos (mi″krof-thalґmos) [micro- + Gr. ophthalmos eye] a developmental defect causing moderate or severe reduction in size of the eye. Opacities of the cornea and lens, scarring of the retina and choroid, and other abnormalities may also be present. Cf. nanophthalmos.
