io·do·form (i-oґdo-form) [iodo- + formyl] [USP] chemical name: triiodomethane. A greenish yellow powder or crystals, CHI3, having a strong, penetrating odor, containing about 96 per cent iodine, and soluble in chloroform and ether and somewhat in alcohol and water: used as a topical antiinfective, applied to the skin, and used for packing cavities in oral and otorhinologic surgery.
