tetanus toxoid
(T) the formaldehyde-inactivated toxins of Clostridium tetani, used for immunization against tetanus; both fluid (tetanus toxoid [USP]) and adsorbed (on alum, aluminum hydroxide, or aluminum phosphate) (tetanus toxoid adsorbed [USP]) forms are available. It is used in mixtures with diphtheria toxoid and acellular pertussis vaccine (DTaP and Tdap), with diphtheria toxoid (DT and Td), or by itself (T); routine childhood immunization is generally with the first (diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis vaccine).
