secretin test
1. (for pancreatic function) after intravenous injection of secretin, pancreatic secretions are measured by collection through a tube in the duodenum. 2. (for hypergastrinemia) basal values of gastrin are obtained and secretin is administered intravenously; levels of gastrin are then measured at short intervals to assess whether its secretion is normal or abnormal.
