antimÑŒllerian hormone
a glycoprotein produced by Sertoli cells of the fetal testis that acts ipsilaterally in the male to suppress the paramesonephric (mÑŒllerian) ducts, consequently preventing development of the uterus and uterine tubes, thus influencing control of the formation of the male phenotype. Called also mÑŒllerian inhibiting factor or substance, mÑŒllerian duct inhibitory factor, and mÑŒllerian regression factor.
