Echinococcus granulosus
a small tapeworm parasitic in dogs, wolves, and occasionally cats. Its larva may develop in nearly any mammal, forming unilocular hydatid cysts in the liver, lungs, kidneys, and other organs. See unilocular hydatid disease, under disease.
