di·chlo·ro·di·eth·yl sul·fide (di-klor″o-di-ethґəl) mustard gas, a vesicant gas once employed in war. It produces blistering and subsequent sloughing of the skin with involvement of the eyes and respiratory tract. Death results from bronchopneumonia. Called also yellow cross and yperite.
