antigen-presenting cells
cells that take part in antigen presentation (see under presentation); a group of dendritic cells that arise in the bone marrow and migrate to other body sites. They process antigens and put them on their surfaces to react with lymphocytes and induce an immune response. The group includes follicular dendritic cells in B-dependent areas of lymphoid tissues, interdigitating cells in T-dependent areas, Langerhans cells in the epidermis, and veil cells in lymphoid tissue.
