(Aga)
Aghas are leaders of Kurdish tribes, clans, or lineages who usually live with their tribe. Most aghas have a guesthouse where travelers can rest and be entertained. Aghas and sheikhs (religious leaders) are traditional Kurdish leaders and as such are seen in Turkey especially as reactionary impediments to modernization and democracy. On the other hand, many current Kurdish leaders originally come from agha or sheikh backgrounds.
