Khalid Beg of the Jibran
(?-1925)
Khalid Beg of the Jibran tribe was a key leader of Azadi, the clandestine Kurdish organization in Turkey that planned the Sheikh Said uprising in 1925. Although the son of a tribal chief, Khalid Beg was a Kurdish nationalist, probably due to his urban education in the military school for the Hamidiye. He was a colonel in the regular army and held the respect of most of the tribal militia commanders. He was arrested at the start of the uprising and executed along with his colleague Yusuf Ziya Beg in his prison cell.
