An independent coeducational university (with a student body of approximately 24,000) founded in 1955 and located in Ramat Gan, a suburb of Tel Aviv. The university, named for Rabbi Meir Bar Ilan, was established under the auspices of the Religious Zionists of America. The university's purpose is to train students in both Jewish and secular studies and to revitalize and rebuild Jewish identity.
