Zechariah m
Biblical: name (meaning ‘God has remembered’ in Hebrew) of several figures in the Bible, most notably one of the twelve ‘minor’ prophets, author of the book that bears his name. It was also the name of an earlier prophet, who was stoned by the people because of his preaching (2 Chronicles 24: 20–3), and of the last Israelite king of the race of Jehu, who was overthrown by Shallum the son of Jabesh (2 Kings 15: 8–10). See also ZACHARY (SEE Zachary).
