Zara f
Name occasionally used in the 20th century in Britain, and to a lesser extent in Italy, Spain, and Portugal. It is said to be of Arabic origin, from zahr flower. It was given by Princess Anne and Mark Philips to their second child (b. 1981), which aroused considerable comment at the time as a departure from the traditional patterns of royal nomenclature. It has no doubt been influenced by SARAH (SEE Sarah).
