Apollonia f
Latin feminine form of the Greek masculine name Apollonios, an adjectival derivative of the name of the sun god, Apollo. This is of uncertain origin, and may be pre-Greek. St Apollonia was an elderly deaconess martyred at Alexandria under the Emperor Decius in the mid-3rd century. The name in this form has been used in both English and German.
