Mona f
1 Irish and English: Anglicized form of the Gaelic name Muadhnait, a feminine diminutive of muadh noble. It is no longer restricted to people with Irish connections, and has sometimes been taken as connected with Greek monos single, only. In Gaelic Scotland it may represent a feminine form of TORMOD (SEE Tormod), since the latter was used as a Gaelic form of NORMAN (SEE Norman).
Mona is also found as a female name in Arabic.
