Janet f
English: diminutive of JANE (SEE Jane), already in common use in the Middle English period. Towards the end of the Middle Ages the name largely died out except in Scotland. It was revived at the end of the 19th century to much more widespread use, but still retains its popularity in Scotland. See also SEÒNAID (SEE Seònaid), SINÉAD (SEE Sinéad), and SIONED (SEE Sioned).
