Irving
Irving m
Scottish and English (chiefly U.S.): transferred use of the Scottish surname, which originated as a local name from a place in the former county of Dumfriesshire. The surname variant Irvine (which in most cases comes from a place in Ayrshire) is also used as a given name. One of the most famous of modern bearers was the lyricist Irving Berlin (b. 1888), but in his case the name was adopted: he was of Jewish origin, and was originally called Israel Baline.
