India f
English: presumably from the name of the subcontinent, and apparently taken into regular use as a result of its occurence in Margaret Mitchell's novel Gone with the Wind (1936), which contributed a remarkable number of given names to the English language. In the case of India Hicks, Lord Mountbatten's granddaughter, the name was chosen because of her family's association with, and affection for, India.
