Ewald m
German: from an old Germanic personal name composed of the elements ēo law, right + wald rule. This name was borne in the 7th century by a pair of brothers, apparently originally from Northumbria, who evangelized north Germany and Frisia. In order to distinguish them they were known as ‘Ewald the Fair’ and ‘Ewald the Dark’.
