(GATT)
GATT is an international treaty dating from 1947 based on the "unconditional most-favored nation principle," a treaty which was the foundation for the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 1993. Since its inception, GATT has spearheaded several roundtables on issues that closely affect the garment and textile industries, such as trade barrier reductions, tariff reductions, quota reduction, anti-dumping agreements, trade-related intellectual property rights (TRIPS), and international trade law.
