A company founded by Aldo Furlanetto as a leathergoods store on Bologna's Via Ugo Bassi in 1927. Known for luxury leather handbags and accessories, Furla made a name for itself in Italy and, through the efforts of son Paolo, expanded the company worldwide. Today the company is run by the founder's daughter, Giovanna Furlanetto, with 255 stores in 73 countries. In 1999, Giovanna set up an art awards program called Furla l'Arte, which supports young artists.
