The British archaeologist of wide interests, based in the British School at Rome, the University of Lancaster, and the British Museum, who is best known in his Etruscan research for his field survey of the Ager Faliscus, his excavations at Narce, and his seminal overview of the landscape work of the British School at Rome, The Changing Landscape of South Etruria (1979).
