(c. 2613–2494 BC). Sometimes considered the first dynasty of the Old Kingdom. Stated by Manetho to consist of eight kings of Memphis belonging to a different line. Most of these rulers can be identified from contemporary monuments and later king lists, although the number varies. The rulers include Snefru, who built two pyramids at Dahshur, and Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the builders of the three pyramids at Giza.
