(c. 70–26 BC)
Roman poet and official. First prefect of Egypt from 30–26 BC. He took part in the Egyptian campaign of Augustus and was put in charge of the newly conquered province of Egypt. He suppressed a revolt in Thebes. His inscriptions praising his own deeds annoyed the emperor, and he was recalled and forced to commit suicide in 26 BC.
