George the Monk, known as Syncellus, wrote a book entitled, 'History of the World from the Creation to Diocletian', in which he provides the last transmission, although only in a partial form, of the major work (the Aegyptiaca) of the Egyptian priest, *Manetho. Other sources that partially preserve *Manetho's History are the earlier writers *Josephus, *Africanus and *Eusebius.
