He and she
Originally produced in Boston in 1912 as The Herfords, this renamed and lightly revised version of Rachel Croth-ers's play opened 12 February 1920 and ran for 28 performances at the Little Theatre. A compelling treatment of the difficulties faced by the new woman, the play focuses on Ann Herford, a sculptor married to a sculptor. On the verge of attaining the recognition for which she has worked hard, she ultimately defers the career opportunity to her husband so that she can do the right thing as the mother of a teenage daughter.
