(1860-1937)
Although born in Scotland and associated with the London theatre, Barrie wrote plays that joined the standard American repertoire, several of them becoming vehicles for the beloved Maude Adams. Among his most popular plays on the American stage were The Little Minister (1897), Quality Street (1902), The Admirable Crichton (1902), Peter Pan (1904), and What Every Woman Knows (1908).
